When I sat down to write this story, I was so thrilled. I knew I had a mystery to pen down, and it was the first mystery book I had ever made. The plot begged me to start writing. So I began. I didn't realize what a journey The Lord was going to lead me on as I wrote this book. As a side note, most of my novels begin with me getting inspired about a particular spiritual message. It might be about loving your enemies, trusting in God, battling pride, etc.... This becomes the theme of the entire novel, and the scenarios and dialogue in the book often build upon it. But when I started Shadow's Secret, I didn't have a particular theme in mind. All I had was a half-formed plot which I was incredibly inspired about and a good-will to weave whatever Christian thoughts I could into it. I kept praying and asking the Lord to help me write the story well, and the longer I wrote, the more I began to feel that he was answering my prayer. As I wrote, Jesus seemed to be teaching me a lesson which became the theme of Shadow's Secret: it was about his love; his infinite, forgiving, protective love toward us. Shadow's Secret is about redemption, faith, and finding a home for our souls in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
